Etosha National Park, Namibia: Salt Pan Safari
Rui Ornelas
Lions. Zebras. Rhinos. These mighty creatures and many more find sanctuary and camera-toting tourists in Etosha, one of the world’s great game reserves. At the heart of the park is an ancient salt desert, formed long ago when a giant lake dried up - the Etosha salt pan.
Surrounding the salt pan is a fragile world of grasslands and waterholes. It’s a rough life for animals, but perfect for safari. Just remember: Stay inside your car and keep the doors locked.
